Since July, Professor Yuichi Imanaka (Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University) has been leading “empirical research on the improvement of QOL through utilizing smart devices” for residents living in Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (Fujisawa SST).
The research introduced here is to confirm the relationship between health indicators (QOL, happiness, etc.) and daily health-related data (vital, physical activity, sleep, social participation, etc.), with the aim to eventually develop appropriate health indicators for all cities.
Approximately 50 people living in Fujisawa SST are participating in the research. Using smartphones and smart devices, we have been collecting daily health-related data as well as use an app to collect answers to a weekly questionnaire. The research is scheduled to run for 3 months (but may be extended).
The Fujisawa SST Council will continue to promote new health-related initiatives in collaboration with various universities and research institutes.
