We held a book exchange event called “Street Corner Library” on July 17!

The event was planned by the Fujisawa SST Council to increase interest in books and create a space for community interaction through books.

Participants contributed books from their own homes to the event and were able to choose different books to bring home from those brought by other participants.

We asked for donations of books in advance and about 80 books were collected.

We asked participants to write about the highlights and recommended points of the books they brought and the books were lined up with those recommendation cards on display.

This was our first time holding the event and we had about 100 participants.

Many felt it a waste to throw away books they no longer read, and the event was well received, with participants commenting “I’m glad this kind of event exists” and “I found the perfect book to read.”

In addition to the book exchange, we also held a one-day-only “Street Corner Candy Store” so that people of all ages could drop in casually, which particularly delighted the children. This was also a great success.

As a comprehensive hub for health, welfare, and education, Wellness Square will continue to develop initiatives that benefit the local community.
